How To Survive the 2012 End of the World

The latest “in” thing these days is the news about the 2012 end time prediction based on the Mayan calendar that the world will finally meet its end on December 21, 2012.

There is really nothing to worry about. If you have been living in this world for centuries now then it means that you have experienced all sorts of trails and tribulations the world has to offer and you might say that no other catastrophe can scare you.

If you belong the younger generation then just enjoy life because there’s really nothing to be scared about as well.

People love the element of surprise the reason why they enjoy stories of the unexpected, the mysterious and the uncanny. They love to relate these stories to their children and their children’s children.

This perpetuates the belief that what happens to their descendants will definitely happen to them. This is probably how prophecies become foreboding warnings of future events rather than merely positive reminders of past events.

This fear started way back in 999 A.D. when people dreaded the idea that the end of the world is approaching. They interpreted this as the inverted number of the devil which was 666. Many believed that the pope was Anti-Christ. Even the former Pope Sylvester II believed that the end is just around with the coming of the millennium.

Now we realize that the world did not end in 1000 A.D. or in the year 1881 as foretold by Mother Shipton. Even if later on that supposed prophecy was found to be a hoax, the rumor about the end of the world did not die down until 1991.

Still the world survived the year 2000 particularly the Y2K. But the doomsday prophets were not contented and proceeded with their end time fearmongering.

Just in case we survive December 21, 2012, the next thing that will bother us is the asteroiod Apophis
